Nathaniel Rothschild’s birthday party

They spent €15k an hour, listened to klapa, ate Montenegrin cheese

At parties which ceaselessly took place Friday through Sunday dedicated to Nathaniel Rothschild in the extravagant mega-yacht harbour of Porto Montenegro near Tivat, the most sought-after drink was cocktail mojito, while the most popular food was locally made mozzarella cheese.

The menu mainly included gilt poll fish, fresh fruit and vegetables, while the only thing the VIP guests wanted out of the menu was caviar.
On Friday afternoon the first invitees to Rothschild’s birthday party started to arrive at Splendid hotel in Becici, Montenegro, some of whom were world famous model Sasha Volkova, actress Michelle Rodriguez and Tamara Mellon, the co-founder of the Jimmy Choo shoe brand. There was a special protocol in serving food and drinks to the guests, as everything was prepared on the spot.

One of the most ordered specialities was the starter with basil, melon, mozzarella and olive oil. This Montenegro-style Hollywood story will remain remembered for the fact as much as 35 kilograms of mint chocolate was spent on preparing the mojito cocktail.
During the first couple of hours alone of their stay at the Splendid the guests had spent as much as €15,000 although a sumptuous dinner was awaiting them at Porto Montenegro.
– “We did the entire catering job for this event and nothing was left to chance. We had seven chefs come over from the UK and they had our entire kitchen at their disposal, assisted by 17 of our own resident chefs and 75 waiters. As they were really pleased with the service, the next day they left the food preparation to our people. They insisted meals were prepared using locally-grown ingredients, and so instead one from Italy, we used Montenegrin mozzarella, served gilt poll fish, while our local spices mint and basil were an absolute hit with the guests,” said Zarko Radulovic, one of the co-owners of the Splendid.
Special attention among the guests was attracted by the so-called “King of the Mountain”, King Kgosi Leruo Molotlegi, the leader of the Royal Bafokeng Nation from South Africa, a region rich in platinum, who was delighted by the a cappella klapa band from Herceg Novi.
