The luxury automobile manufacturer Rolls Royce now has a new promotion vehicle, though, to be sure, it is a rather pedestrian vehicle: a Rolls Royce-themed polished diamond-encrusted shoe. Chinese designer Chris Lu created the one-of-a-kind footwear, which are entirely covered in diamonds, except for the toe cap, which features a ‘grill’, just like the Rolls Royce automobile itself.
The shoes, dubbed the “Charm of Rolls Royce”, took second prize at last year’s International Show Design Competition. They have continued to generate buzz at the Guangzhou shopping mall where they are on sale for about $5,320. To capitalize on their popularity, the mall installed a massive replica of the shoes covered in 318,000 crystals and measuring 1.8 meters high, according to Diamond Intelligence.
Although it will take more than pocket change to purchase the Charm of Rolls Royce, the fancy footwear don’t even come close to a pair of diamond-encrusted heels that was auctioned off in October in New Zealand for nearly half a million dollars.
