A few weeks ago I accidentally heard a song on the radio that I’d end up listening to about ten times that day, over and over, at work. The song was by an Australian songwriter named Wally De Backer, also known as Gotye (surprisingly pronounced “go-ti-yay”). The song was Someone That I Used to Know and its infection was absolute.
I’m won’t bother embedding the video considering you’re probably one of the multi-millions who’ve already heard it.Fortunately for me I was one of the millions of people who came across the cover of the song adeptly played by all four members of the Canadian band Walk off the Earth (and Sarah Blackwood) on the same guitar.
So, it appears I’m not the only one who thinks it’s cool how these guys make the guitar look as if was meant to be played by five people at once. Evidently one Russell Crowe was also smitten. He went as far as to contact them to ask them if they could perhaps make covers of his own songs. Which is exciting for them, and for me, because now I know I can make fun of Russell Crowe for trying to make music.
Anyway, here’s Walk Off the Earth and Sarah Blackwood’s doing their impressive guitar ménage à cinq. Be careful, it’s as infectious as the original.
